The grand design — the European concept of Franz Josef Strauss

The article examines the political views of the prominent German socialist Franz Josef Strauss on the issue of creating a united Europe. In his understanding, all countries of Western and Central Europe should have united to create a third political force to counterbalance the USA and the USSR.
