The role of civil society institutions in the field of environmental protection in Russia and the Republic of Iraq

The article is devoted to the study of the role of civil society institutions in the field of environmental protection in Russia and the Republic of Iraq. The author notes that environmental protection is an important task not only for the state, but also for civil society institutions. The article concludes that at present Russia and the Republic of Iraq are among the states in which civil society institutions play an important role in environmental issues. At the same time, it is noted that various public associations and organizations engaged in environmental protection activities already exist and are successfully developing in Russia. An empirical analysis was carried out, which made it possible to determine the significant role of civil society institutions in solving environmental problems and in protecting the environment in general, as well as to identify existing problems in this part. The author concludes that further improvement of this institution in the Russian Federation is required by making appropriate changes to the current legislation, as well as the expediency of introducing the institute of public inspectors in Iraq while borrowing positive Russian experience in this part.
