The present article assesses Iran’s role in resolving the Karabakh conflict. Often, studies on how to resolve this confrontation mention the mediatory role of Turkey and Russia. However, Iran is also seeking to establish itself as a peacemaker between Armenia and Azerbaijan, thereby expanding its influence in the Transcaucasus and strengthening its status as a regional power. At the same time, this state is extremely interested in resolving this conflict, since it borders on the disputed territories, which poses a serious threat to its national security. The article proves why Iran’s influence in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict will expand and how favorable the consequences of such a trend are.
