The role of ekphrasis in creating communicative situations

In this article we analyze interinfluence of pictorial space of paintings in the art world of the novel by E. M. Remarque «Arch of Triumph». We will focus on the sensemaking potential of the verbalized paintings by Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin and Paul Cezanne when creating communicative situations in the novel. The unity of such elements of artistic culture is maintained through the device of ekphrasis.
