The article is devoted to the problem of first-year students’ social adaptation facilitated by institute of tutorship. During the first year in the university students go through the adaptation to the new academic requirements of higher school. Tutors have to make this process «painless», to help develop professional values, and to introduce students to the process of research. The success of this work produces considerable influence on the quality of students professional training.
