The article reveals the role of the mass media as a tool for shaping the value orientations of youth. Mass media are not just accumulators of information, but also quite effective tools for shaping the worldview and life priorities of youth. The successful introduction of boys and girls to universal norms, their socialization in society largely depends on the quality and quantity of information received. Conclusion that the way in which the mass media system will continue to develop largely determines what value orientations will be formed by the next generations of young people. It is emphasized that this process must be controlled at the state level, since the mass media, with their significant educational potential, can have both constructive as well as destructive effects on the immature consciousness of the younger generation, forming a corresponding social layer in Russian society.
