An important area of human resources policy in public and municipal administration is the personnel work, which is applicable in practice a set of methods, technologies and mechanisms for the implementation of personnel policy. The article deals with the process of personnel selection in the bodies of state and municipal service. In this regard, the dynamics of indicators of the development of the personnel potential of the public service on the basis of the analysis of official data of the Federal statistical observation is of interest. Necessity of search and application of effective methods of selection and technologies of formation of personnel structure of public authorities is confirmed.
