This study is devoted to the study of the role of nuclear factor kB (NF-kB) in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS), a multifactorial disease of the central nervous system. The relevance of the work is due to the constant search for genetic markers predicting the course of MS and the growing interest in the influence of genetic polymorphisms on susceptibility to this disease. The study analyzes the effect of NF-kB, a key inflammatory regulator, on the development of MS, taking into account its interaction with other immune response factors. The results obtained demonstrate the relationship between genetic variants located near the NF-kB1 gene (rs228614-G) and the altered activity of NF-kB in the immune cells of patients with MS. It has been established that this risk variant is associated with increased expression of NF-kB and a violation of its regulation, which potentially contributes to the development and progression of the disease. These data contribute to the understanding of the molecular mechanisms of MS and may be relevant for the development of new diagnostic and treatment strategies.
