The article focuses on the problem of adaptation of young specialists of the state civil service in the conditions of modern transformations. The article substantiates the role of mentoring in the professional development of specialists entering the civil service for the first time. The importance of organizing social interaction between a mentor and a young specialist and eliminating possible risks of ineffective mentoring is emphasized.
