This article examines the significance of the modern Olympic Games (particularly the 1980 Olympics in the USSR), which have become a significant social phenomenon occupying a prominent place in global culture. The Olympic movement, pursuing the goal of strengthening interethnic ties and promoting the principles of fair play, mutual assistance, and solidarity, unites young people from around the world under the sign of five interlocking rings. The international Olympic movement enjoys considerable authority, which stems from its core principles. These principles include the non-discrimination of any kind in sport, whether on political, racial, or religious grounds, the recognition of equal rights and independence of national sports organizations, and non-interference in their internal affairs. Furthermore, the movement actively promotes peace throughout the world.
