The role of organizational culture in knowledge management in organizations

This study examined the mediating role of social capital in the relationship between organizational culture and knowledge management. The motivation for this study was based on requests in the literature for empirical research linking organizational culture and knowledge management, and social capital and knowledge management. The data was obtained from bank employees in the branches of Otkritie Bank. The results showed that organizational culture has a significant positive impact on knowledge management and social capital. In addition, social capital has had a significant positive impact on knowledge management, confirming the intermediary role of social capital. The current study contributes to the knowledge management literature by exploring a plausible explanation for the close relationship between organizational culture and knowledge management. This research encourages practitioners to develop social capital and mutual trust among employees to promote effective knowledge management practices.
