Role of frontier zone in the border areas of Pskov region and Jewish autonomous region

This article proceeds with the study of border zones in a western and an eastern border regions of the Russian Federation. The paper examines an impact of checkpoints activity on the territorial development. It has been revealed that, despite their remoteness, the two areas have some common features - a weak development of cultural tourism and a decline in shop tourism to neighboring countries among Russians citizens after appreciation of the dollar. The author shows some features of the situation in the border regions, connected with their economic geography and mentality of the population.
