The role of the Serbian patriarch Barnabas in overcoming the jurisdictional divisions of the Russian Orthodox Church outside of Russia

The article provides a detailed analysis of the meeting of the heads of four Metropolitan districts which took place at the end of 1935 in Sremski Karlovci at the initiative and under the leadership of the Serbian Patriarch Barnabas. The conference was aimed at overcoming jurisdictional divisions between the parts of the Russian Church Abroad, which began in 1926. On the basis of the materials from the archives of the Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, New York, the course of the meetings, discussions of controversial issues, and the positions of the parties are considered. The meeting resulted in the signing of the Interim Agreement. Unity with North America was restored, which allowed for the union of about 95% of the Russian Church emigration.
