The relevance of the issue of the role of the media in shaping public opinion and influencing elections is related to the fact that the media plays a significant role in the process of information support for elections. The purpose of the article is to determine the importance of the media in the period of information support for elections. According to the results of the study, the conclusion is presented that restrictions on the freedom of media activity during the period of information and campaigning campaigns are reasonable and fully consistent with the importance of free elections, given that the status of the media as an intermediary in transmitting information, but not a subject expressing its point of view to the masses or an instrument of illegal influence by someone on the election results.
