The role of new Soviet holidays in antireligious propaganda conducted in the Buryat-Mongolian Republic in 1920s is analyzed in this article. On materials of the local periodical press and archival documents the author shows the nation-wide, centralized nature of new ceremonialism, thus revealing the peculiar features inherent to polyethnic national region.
