The role of media in shaping the image of a law enforcement officer

This article analyzes the socio-communicative and institutional features of the relationship between the coverage of police activities in media and the formation of the image of law enforcement agencies. The text analyzes the content side of the concept of “image” in relation to the effectiveness of the department, shows how much the image depends on media and artistic image, broadcast in the communication space. The author takes into account not only the influence of traditional media, but also Internet resources. Modern society has open information flows, which cannot be completely controlled. The methodological basis of the presented article is the classic content analysis of open sources, as well as the study of scientific research literature on the problem. The author’s position assumes the presence of a dialectical relationship between the image of the police and its effectiveness
