The article examines the role of proper names in the artistic test. The paper also presents the functions of toponyms in various texts. The special significance of onyms from a philological point of view is emphasized. On the one hand, toponyms are considered as part of the vocabulary of the language, on the other - as an actively used element in literary texts.
