В статье определяются и анализируются основные решения Верховного суда США, повлиявшие на прогресс в сфере защиты гражданских прав афроамериканского меньшинства в 1945-1952 годах. Анализируются причины изменения судебной практики в рассматриваемый период. Дается сравнительная оценка значения деятельности Верховного суда и иных органов государственной власти в области гражданских прав.
