The role of the military service of peasantry in the education of Siberian village (the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century)

The article analyzes the role of the military service in the education of the peasantry, form the basis of the lower ranks of the army at the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century, сharacterized by its impact on the cultural development of the village (at the regional Siberian material). In the context of the introduction of conscription and the new socio-cultural realities, military teachers and administrators are beginning to consider not only the army as a military force, but also as a school of life. Obligatory literacy soldiers introduced in the army, carried out educational activities on various topics, organized theater productions, arranged library. In the end of the XIX - beginning of the XX centuries about 8% of all literate people in the country have learned to read and write it while serving in the army. Through this educational work, presenting a soldier of the state, government, religion, the family became more conscious, formed the need for knowledge and education, there was acculturation, health. Competent retired soldiers, returning to their villages, became clerks in various rural institutions, teachers, literacy, crafts organized agricultural cooperatives, initiating resettlement to Siberia, enjoyed great prestige and influence among the villagers. Under the conditions of conscription army is becoming a hotbed of education and culture among the people.
