Examines one of the topical issues of the Kyrgyz linguistics - non-verbal means, in particular, the role of “look” in a literary text. The main object of the study is the aesthetic meaning of “look” in the text. The functions of “look” considered in a science as oculistics hardly been studied in the Kyrgyz linguistics which can significantly supplement linguistic science. The paper analyzes examples of literary texts, examines the semantics of “look” and their functions. It has been found that in the process of analyzing a literary text, the concept of “look” in its poetic power and meaning can be defined endlessly, since “look” simultaneously performs direct, figurative, allegorical meanings in the text, as well as poetic, aesthetic, ethical, emotional, expressive, stylistic, sensory and other functions. The “look” in a work of fiction is used not only in poetry but also in prose where it can be a very powerful and meaningful tool if the author skillfully and appropriately applies it. It performs several functions, creating irreplaceable values. The research includes an analytical review of the problem of expressing “look” in the text from the linguistic point of view, as well as psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, ethnolinguistics and ethnopedagogy.
