Russia and the Sorbonne

This article contains information of Russian ambassadors, diplomats, prominent statesmen and public figures about the University of Paris Sorbonne as a center of theological and secular sciences. The work pays attention to the question of union between the Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches, which was raised during the visit of Emperor Peter I to France by theologians of the Sorbonne. The article consideres the attempt to implement the project of the Churches union and also the reasons for its rejection by Peter I and Feofan Prokopovich as well as in the later period of Russian history.
