Russian artillery on the eve of the military reforms of 1905-1912

The article considers the development conditions and the problems of the Russian Army's artillery on the eve of the Russian-Japanese War of 1904-1905. It defines the main areas of activity of Russian state and military control bodies on improving the organizational structure and on supplying the army units with the new artillery systems. The author clearly indicates the main conditions for increasing the firepower of artillery units of the Russian Army in the early XX century and he also reveals the main organizational and managerial reasons which interfered in equipping the field artillery with modern combat systems.
