On the basis of defining essentially different historical periods of Russia's development, and comparing them, the author reveals fundamental differences in the nature of the Russian statehood in pre-Soviet, Soviet and post-Soviet periods. Based on the working Constitution of the Russian Federation, he proposes to rethink the fundamental basis to form the post-Soviet Russian statehood. The post-Soviet Russian statehood in its further development should be based not on a special way of Russia, but on the provisions of its current Constitution, corresponding to the core values of modern times. Such a path of development of the Russian statehood will bring it to the path of development, which has already been found by many modern developed countries in the world.
