Russian humanities on the specific features of civic identity and the main goals in its formation

The article analyzes the experience of studying the features of civil identity (CI) in Russian humanities. The ambivalence and inconsistency of the definitions of CI, which is a complex and multi-layered phenomenon, is emphasized. It is argued that the different understanding of the goals and objectives of the formation of CI determines the existence of three approaches to its interpretation - liberal, sociocentric and statistic. It is concluded that for the Russian mentality, due to many historical reasons and cultural and civilizational factors, the form of state-civil identity is the most optimal.
