Russian and foreign judicial practice in the field of combating domestic violence

The purpose of this study is to conduct a comparative analysis of the practice of Russian and foreign judicial authorities in combating domestic violence. The relevance of the topic chosen for the study stems from the ambiguous approach to resolving the issue of the need to develop and adopt in Russia a special federal law that enshrines the status of a domestic violence victim, as well as strategies to prevent family and domestic violence. The cases of the practical application of laws against domestic violence in foreign countries and also decisions of the Russian courts on bringing responsibility for crimes in family and domestic relations are considered. On the basis of the practice of foreign law enforcement and judicial bodies, the author concludes about the important role of not only the legal act establishing measures to protect victims of family and domestic assault, but also an effective mechanism for implementing the relevant legislative provisions.
