Russian historical science and science citation indexes

The article examines the state of Russian historical science in terms of science citation indexes. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the operation of Russian science citation index (RSCI). The author reveals some peculiarities about the refection of the achievements of professional historians in Russian scientifc citation index and shows the reasons why professionals in different historical felds have different rankings. It concludes that, despite a number of shortcomings and specifcities of the Humanities, science citation index is an important tool in the evaluation of scientifc work.
