The period of industrialization of the USSR of 1930’s took an important place in the Soviet historical science, but was considered with regard to the prevailing ide-ology. The attention was given, basically, to successes and achievements of the So-viet economy, but some directions of researches connected, in particular, with social aspects of industrialization, influence of reprisals of 1930’s, in the absence of access to the big files of archival documents remained in a shade. Basic political and social changes in the state, which have begun at the turn of 1980–1990’s, have led to change of scientific priorities, and also have opened access to the archival information, hav-ing made researches of social and economic processes in years of the Soviet indus-trialization more objective and proved. Now historians even more often investigate not only tendencies of economic and political development of the USSR during the first five-years periods, but also a role of a social factor, to which enough attention earlier was not given. So, this article gives representation of the basic directions and tendencies of the modern Russian historiography devoted to social «dimension» of industrializa-tion of the first five-year periods; it outlines a circle both rather well studied, and other problems, that were considered only in particular researches. Also article deals with questions, which remain till now in a shade and are mentioned only par-tially and indirectly, that can specify reference points for the further scientific re-searches in the given actual research direction.
