The article deals with concept of the academic diaspora which arose among other things due to the process of the brain drain. The author analyzes the structure of the academic diaspora from the perspective of the skill-and-status classification and period of time spent in other ethnic environment. The approaches to cooperation with the diaspora according to the category of its representatives are considered.
