Regulation of the Buddhist temple building and reconstruction in the Western Transbaikalia in the 2nd half of the 19th century

The article is devoted to historical features of the Buddhist temple in Buryatia. The authors use unpublished sources, which contain important information about building and reconstruction of the Buddhist temples in the second half of the 19th century. The article also explores how government influenced the Buddhist temples and Buddhist society. The authors note that Buddhist monasteries were not only a religious but also educational, cultural, medicine and political centers.
