Tourism in the modern world is one of the key drivers of economic growth, contributing to the development of infrastructure, job creation and increasing the investment attractiveness of regions. Countries with a developed tourism industry receive significant benefits, including GDP growth, strengthening of the international image and improving the quality of life of the population. Russia, with its unique cultural heritage, diversity of natural landscapes and rich historical potential, has all the prerequisites for the development of a powerful tourist center. However, despite the available resources, the industry faces a number of systemic problems: insufficient infrastructure development, low level of service, weak media visibility and administrative barriers. This study analyzes global trends in demand for tourism services and assesses the prospects for tourism development in the Russian Federation. The author proves that Russian tourism is predominantly event-driven, and its potential is not fully realized. Based on the analysis, comprehensive measures are proposed to overcome existing limitations, including improving public policy, developing digital platforms for promotion and improving the quality of the tourism product. The results of the study can be used to formulate strategies for sustainable growth of the industry.
