Russian-American Relations Influenced by D. Trump’s Policy: Problems and Prospects

The article is devoted to the analysis of trends in the development of relations between the United States and Russia under the influence of D. Trump's policy. Its first section explores his policy towards Russia and China during his first term as President. At that time, he failed to develop a system for coordinating US foreign policy with Russia and China, as he demonstrated a tendency to a policy of all-round pressure on them, through which he hoped to weaken them, but this did not happen. The second section is devoted to China's reaction to the anti-China strategy of the 47th President of the United States. The facts given in this section indicate that this strategy is becoming an important component of US foreign policy, to which the Chinese authorities are responding adequately. The third section of the article analyzes the change in the vector of US foreign policy towards Russia. The last two sections substantiate the factors contributing to the restoration of the partnership between the United States and Russia and possible directions for improving Russian-American relations. The article makes conclusions concerning the analysis of trends in the development of US-Russian relations in the first quarter of the 21st century. These include the following. In modern conditions, US relations with China and Russia are becoming one of the main factors of the White House's foreign policy, as it based on Trump's organization of deals beneficial to the United States. In this regard, it is unlikely that Russia and China will sacrifice their national interests in order to «make America great again», since their approaches for solving many problems are very different. Nevertheless, there are factors and directions for restoring relations between the United States and Russia that meet their national interests.
