Russian-Belarusian borderlands: current migration situation

The study discusses the development of the international migration cooperation of the Russian Federation with the Republic of Belarus at the present stage. The relevance of the problem is determined by the complex migration situation that has been observed since the 2014 Migration Crisis. The author notes the positive effect of the long-term cooperation between two countries on the unification of migration legislation and the intensification of labor migration within the Union State and the Eurasian Economic Union. At the same time, there are challenges of combating illegal migration of citizens from foreign countries due to the lack of a single visa space. The research analyzes violations of the Russian-Belarusian border in Pskov region, the composition of violators, and the main directions of the illegal migration flow in this area in recent years.
