Russian-British relations of XVIII century in works of David Bain Horn (part 3)

This work continues the series of articles devoted to the study of the scientific heritage of the British historian David Bain Horn, and serves as its third part. The object of the study is the Russian-British relations presented in the monograph of the author “British Diplomatic Service 1689-1789”. The paper provides a chapter analysis of the scholar’s work. It is emphasized that the relations between Russia and England are considered in the book along with diplomatic ties between Great Britain and other European states. The paper summarizes facts and events that are rarely or not at all presented in the Russian historiography, and also characterizes some of the assessments that the British historian gives to the Russian-British relations of the XVIII century. By using the method of comparative analysis in the paper, it is possible to determine the significance of D.B. Horn’s work for domestic historical science in terms of knowledge about diplomatic ties between Britain and Russia in the XVIII century.
