Russian-Iranian relations in the framework of the settlement of the Syrian crisis

The Syrian crisis is one of the urgent problems in world politics. Since the beginning of the crisis, Russia and Iran have started working closely to control the terrorism in Syria and prevent it spreading to other regions. The paper considers regional and non-regional actors involved in the Syrian conflict. That is why experts call Syrian conflict a «proxy war». This study analyzes Russian-Iranian relations in the settlement of the Syrian crisis. In parallel, the importance of Syria for Russia and Iran was determined. Regional and extra-regional factors affecting the crisis in question are considered. The author concludes that Russian-Iranian relations within the framework of the Syrian crisis can become the basis for the creation of a new order in the Middle East. These changes, on the one hand, will stop the growth of the threat of terrorism, and on the other hand, ensure a balance of powers in the Middle East.
