Russian-Chinese strategic partnership in the Russian Arctic in the format of economic reference zones

International cooperation between Russia and China on the development of the Arctic region in the format of reference economic zones is an important component of the comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction between the two States. The increased interest of the people’s Republic of China in the Russian Arctic is caused not only by the vastness of Russia’s Arctic possessions and their unique resource potential, but also by a number of other factors. At the same time, it is obvious that, despite the existing problems, the development of the Arctic’s mining infrastructure based on the use of the latest promising technologies, as well as the modernization of the logistics base of the Arctic transport system, can create a solid framework for common Chinese-Russian interests in this remote region of the world.
