The purpose of the article is to consider the usage of the theme of "repast' (trapeza) and 'tableful' (zastojlje) as an original method in Russian writers and poets' pieces of art. Russian cuisine was greatly influenced by European, especially, by French one (XVIII-XIX centuries). This caused not only appearance of new products and new cookery courses but new language borrowings connected with cookery as well. Knowledge and understanding of other country cuisine can help us understand a nation on the whole, i.e. this understanding is part and parcel of intercultural communication.
