The article is devoted to the life and works famous composers and ballet of the Imperial theatre of the mid-nineteenth century. Their names are associated with the development of academic ballet and anticipated the era of classicism. Before the reform of P. I. Tchaikovsky was a common method of joint work of the choreographer and the composer. The specifics and peculiarities of this work, stated in this article.
