Russian traditional games (round dances) according to the sources of the 19th century

The article discusses Russian traditional games with movement to round dance and dance songs recorded in the studies of the XIX century. The author analyzes the sources and classifies Russian traditional games with movement, paying special attention to the most common. The article points out the importance of deep study of Russian traditional games, their appropriate use in education and upbringing of the younger generation. The author establishes that Russian traditional games were the basis for the emergence of choreographic genres: round dance and dancing. The author raises the question of the need for in depth study in the sources of the past centuries of Russian traditional games (with movement to round dance and dance songs), their types and subspecies, their musical and choreographic features in various regions of Russia.
