Russian loans in Mari wedding ceremonialism

The article is devoted to the research of ethno cultural relations between Maris and Russians, to revealing the degree of convergent and loaned elements in the wedding tradition of Mari, to the research of structure of traditional wedding ritualism and to specific character of its local versions. Under the influence of Christianization the paganism is partially weakening and consequently, simplification of pagan wedding ritual, simplification or reappraisal of some pagan magic rituals according to Christian tradition take place. Besides, Maris have partially loaned from Russian people the wedding terminology and new elements of ritual ceremony.
