Russian Black Hundreds and Romanian Legionnaires: Comparison of Ideological Content

The article is the text of a report read at the III Scientific and Practical Conference “Empire and the Church”, held on April 14–15, 2022 at the St. Petersburg Theological Academy. In the report considered are some aspects of the ideological basis of such phenomena of right-wing ideology as the Russian Black Hundreds movement (1905–1917) and the Romanian Legionnaires’ movement (1920–1930s). Also examined are the key provisions of these projects on issues of national consolidation, the defense of Orthodoxy, and attitudes toward the monarchy. The peculiarities of anti-Semitism in these movements are shown as well. Drawn is the conclusion about the differences in the ideological content of the two movements.
