The article analyzes the sociocultural phenomenon of the information society. The relevance of the research is determined by the use of an interdisciplinary synergetic approach in the qualification of technological advances, which allows us to call the phase of social development as informational. Mediatization, being the result of information technology, has affected all areas of society, especially humanitarian. The global process spawned a psychological phenomenon of elusive reality that adversely affected spiritual and national culture, distorted the dominants of morality, distorted the orthological foundations of the languages of many societies; Under the pressure of high technology, virtual neoreality has acquired new ontological properties: the modern user communicates and works primarily in the digital environment. The theoretical value of the work is the presentation of the digital environment of the Internet as a structure with informational chaos, dissipative state of media texts and entertainment formats of visual content. The topological space of the media as a whole is dispersed, pointwise, discontinuously, the content boundaries are diffuse. The traditional axiological paradigm of journalism as a social and spiritual activity has been destroyed as a result of the impact of global communication patterns. The importance of the axiologi-cal reference points of emigrant and other societies is emphasized. Epistems of humanitarian knowledge are reduced within many countries of the world; the dominance of tolerance and creativity in journalism and personal communication distorts the linguistic picture of the world, leading to violations of standard and exemplary speech. The author concludes: the level of culture of the consumer society reflects the chaotic state of mentality: the mass user is not able to critically comprehend both the negative and positive results of the advent of high technologies. Journalism inevitably adapts to the new demands of the digital environment.
