Self-transcendence of a human being the basis for aspiration to immortality

The paper explored a tribal human as a creature with the implied aspiration to self-transcendence and ability to perform it. Aspiration to immortality has been interpreted as integral feature of an individual, derived from self-transcendence and being a part and parcel to it. The study examined the attribute properties of a human, namely: one’s mind, practicing, societal involvement, all of them being examined as forms of entrancement. The author considered various types of emotional attitude towards death and immortality, and their manifestations in the pieces of folk and classical art. The study emphasized an ambivalent nature (in the aspect of ethics) of the personal draft to immortality.
