Activities of the sect of Lieutenant Colonel A. P. Dubovitsky was not investigated and did not receive detailed coverage in historical literature. This was one of the sects generated by the policy of the head of the spiritual sphere of Russia, Prince A. N. Golitsyn. In the 21st century New materials have been introduced into scientific circulation that make it possible to assess the place of Dubovitsky’s sect among the religious associations of that time. Dubovitsky was a participant in the Masonic movement, his mentors belonged to the Rosicrucian group. Dubovitsky had family ties with members of the Avignon Society. At various times, members of the Society provided him with support. The basis of the teachings of Dubovitsky’s sect was the ideology of the Bible Society. Documents of the Committee of Ministers show that the investigation into the Dubovitsky sect was of great importance for the counter-reforms of 1824. A. A. Arakcheev wanted to use the sect, which included the military, to strike at his rival A. N. Golitsyn. The case was to be referred for investigation to the Committee of General Security, which investigated the activities of the Avignon Society in 1807. The committee could also investigate the case of Pastor I. Gossner, which became the basis of the intrigue in the spring of 1824. Alexander I was able to protect his friend A. N. Golitsyn and stopped investigating the Dubovitsky sect. By order of the emperor, the case was transferred to the spiritual authorities, and Dubovitsky was imprisoned in a monastery. Conservatives failed to attach political significance to the activities of the sects generated by the propaganda of the Bible Society.
