Hybrid sunflower breeding for resistance to the new races of broomrape

Results of sunflower lines and hybrids breeding for resistance to the new races of broomrape are shown. These races are spreading now in the south part of Russia. Fertility restoring line and experimental hybrid combination were developed with resistance to broomrape of the race F. The resistance is dominant. However, more virulent broomrape races from the Rostov region (G and H, presumably) overcome this resistance. Such hybrids can be used as a temporary measure until new hybrids resistant to all broomrape races are developed.
