Apple breeding for scab resistance as a development of N.I. Vavilov’s and I.V. Michurin’s ideas

The results of breeding of the first Russian apple varieties immune to scab and data on the improvement of methods of artificial inoculation of seedlings during the selection at early points of the development are shown. The brief descriptions of 10 varieties having resistance gene V m and 30 varieties with gene V f are given. Five varieties with gene V m and 19 varieties with gene V f are included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements Allowed for Use (regionally released).
