Selection of meat chicken on alternative determinants - pectus and legs muscularity

The authors estimated the influence of selection of meat chicken of the Cornish breed (A5 line of the Smena cross) on alternative determinants - pectus and legs muscularity - on broilers meat productivity. The determinants characterized the bird productivity at 35 days of age in two generation of breeding were determined. The assessment of efficiency of bird breeding on meat productivity during selection on pectus and legs muscularity was made. It was established, that selection of cockerels at 35 days of age on pectus muscularity leads to increasing of relative mass of pectoral muscles. During a hen's selection on legs muscularity the relative mass of legs muscles increase, however it is not observed in cockerels.
