Sunflower breeding for oil quality in Western Siberia

In industrial production, there are two types of sunflower oil: traditional and high oleic. At the V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil crops a unique variety, Pervenets, containing 75-80% oleic and 12-17% linoleic fatty acids in oil, was created by K.I. Soldatov for the first time in the world with the method of chemical mutagenesis, which contributed to the development of a new breeding direction for oil quality. The article presents the research results of 2001-2005, 2014-2017. The experiments were conducted on the breeding field of the Siberian Experimental Station, a branch of the FSBSI FRC VNIIMK (Omsk Region, Isilkul). Subjects of research were a special-purpose Kruiz variety of VNIIMK breeding (Krasnodar), eight varieties and promising samples of breeding of the Siberian Experimental Station, a branch of VNIIMK.
