Selective inhibitors of serotonin reuptake and the risk of suicide

The literature review provides information about suicide risk when prescribing of selective inhibitors of serotonin reuptake. Including certain drugs are considered the representatives of this pharmacological group. In most considered in the review of research is not evidence that the purpose of selective inhibitors of serotonin reuptake leads to increased suicide rates. It is also of interest assessing the presence and severity of patients suicidal ideation prior to prescription of antidepressants, and during therapy requires active monitoring of the dynamics of suicide risk, especially among young people and children.
