The article is devoted to the semantic evolution of phraseological units, especially obsolete expressions, and their changes over time. It examines the history of the development of phraseological units, their functions in the language, and discusses the opinions of scientists on this issue. Special attention is paid to the semantic evolution of phraseological units, which is examined using examples from various periods.
