The semantic features of Dutch borrowings in the Belgian variant of the French language

The article is devoted to the problem of the semantic features of Dutch borrowings in the Belgian variant of the French language. The authors analyze the causes for borrowings, paying a special attention to linguo-geographical and socio-cultural factors, the situation of bilingualism. The examination of the borrowings in the article is based on the classification according to lexical-semantic groups. The article also shows that the assimilation of the borrowings led to acquiring additional connotative meanings.
